Picket Duty and Winter Camp Preparations

Monday, November 10, 1862

As a break from the usual routine of drills some companies of the Twenty-Seventh were selected for occasional picket duty. Others were detailed to build pine-log shelters to prepare the camp for the impending winter.¹
